# ERM-1019

> Marketo's API user doesn't have permission for this

## What happened

The connection works, but the Marketo API user's role isn't allowed to perform this action.

## Common causes

The API role is missing permissions like "Read-Write Person", "Read-Write Assets", or "Execute Campaign"; workspace/partition restrictions.

## How to fix

In Marketo, go to Admin → Users & Roles and add the needed permissions to the API user's role. Reconnecting won't help. (For a broken connection, see [ERM-1006](/errors/ERM-1006).)
