# Email templates

> Build an email design once and list the copy each email needs, so the next email is filled in rather than written.

An **email template** is a reusable email design plus a list of the words each new email needs to supply. It arranges your [components](https://docs.allgoodhq.com/mk/content/email/components/index.md) into a layout and names the copy a marketer fills in.

If you are coming from Marketo, think of it as the pre-baked email in a program template, not a Marketo email template. It is the middle layer of [email](https://docs.allgoodhq.com/mk/content/email/index.md): components are the pieces, the template is the arrangement, and an [email](https://docs.allgoodhq.com/mk/content/email/emails/index.md) is a finished message built from it.
