# Making a page from a template

> Fill in a landing page template's named fields to make a new page, and know which parts are shared and which are rebuilt.

A **landing page template** is a page layout plus a list of what changes from page to page, such as the headline, the subhead and the button text. Making a page from one means filling in those fields. You don't decide the layout again.

Templates are made once by your marketing ops team. See [Templates](https://docs.allgoodhq.com/mk/content/templates.md) for how they're built.

**1. Choose the template**

In **Content**, select **Create**, then choose **Landing Page**. A window asks how you want to start. Select a template card. Each card shows the template's name, what it's for, and when it was approved.

Choose a template, or select Start from scratch to build the structure yourself

**2. Name it and check what it links to**

Enter a name for the generator. The name is required. **Linked artifacts** shows the [page component library](https://docs.allgoodhq.com/mk/content/landing-pages/page-components.md) the template builds from. The right side previews the template, with a description of its layout above it.

**3. Fill in the fields**

**Copy for your landing page generator** tells you how many fields the template asks for. Select **Show fields** to see them, such as the page title and meta description. Fill in what you know. Anything you leave out gets written for you.

Fill in the fields you know and leave the rest to Mary

The words go in the page's copy document, and the page points to them. You can change the words later without touching the layout.

**4. Add your brief and start**

Under **Inputs**, choose a file for the **Page Brief**, then select **Start**. You land in **Workshop**, the chat with Mary about this page, where she builds it from the template.

Attach your page brief, then select Start

When this works, the page shows the template's layout with your words, saved as a draft. Open it and preview it. See [Previewing a landing page](https://docs.allgoodhq.com/mk/content/landing-pages/previewing-a-landing-page.md).

## Shared and rebuilt parts

A template says which of its parts are rebuilt for each page and which are shared by every page made from it.

A form is the part that most often matters. By default, a template builds **a new form for each page**, so each campaign gets its own submissions. A template can also share **one form** across every page made from it. Then all their submissions land in the same place. If you wanted separate submissions and the template shares a form, tell Mary, and she'll create a new form instead.
