# Showing different versions of a page

> Split visitors between two versions of a landing page with a content router, and see which version each visitor got.

To test two versions of a page, you publish both and add a **content router**. The router sits at one address and decides which version each visitor sees. There's no separate testing tool. Two pages plus a router is the whole mechanism.

For routing emails, and for how routers work in general, see [Copy and variants](https://docs.allgoodhq.com/mk/content/copy-and-variants.md).

## What a page router can do

A router for pages can **split visitors at random**, such as 50/50 or 60/40 between two versions. Each visitor keeps seeing the same version when they come back.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Page routers split visitors by chance only. Rules based on locale, persona or segment work for emails. They don't work for landing pages.

## Set one up

**1. Build and publish each version**

Make each version as its own page, and publish them. A router can only choose between pages that already exist and are published. See [Creating a landing page](https://docs.allgoodhq.com/mk/content/landing-pages/creating-a-landing-page.md).

**2. Ask Mary for the router**

Tell Mary which pages to split between and in what proportions. She drafts the router and explains how she grouped them.

**3. Confirm it**

Routing decides who sees what, so it never starts on its own. Look at the router's rules and its preview, then confirm.

**4. Publish the router**

Choose the router's address in the library and publish it, the same way you'd publish a page. Share that address. Visitors land on the router, and the router sends them to a version.

When this works, the router's address shows one version to each visitor, and the same visitor sees the same version on their next visit.

## What gets recorded

Every page view and form submission records **which version the visitor saw**. Only the version is kept, never who the visitor is, so sharing a link reveals nothing about the person who shared it.

> [!WARNING]
>
> allGood doesn't report which version performed better. The router splits visitors correctly.
