# Set up your Subscription Center

> Brand the page your recipients land on from the unsubscribe link, choose its languages, set up email categories, and test it before you send.

The Subscription Center is the page a recipient lands on when they click the unsubscribe link in one of your emails. From there they can unsubscribe from all your marketing email, choose which kinds of email they want, and say which country they're in. It's served from your own domain, and the one-click unsubscribe that Gmail and Yahoo require points at it too. See [Web Edge domain vs. email domain](https://docs.allgoodhq.com/mk/settings/email/domains-vs-web-edge.md).

This article covers the settings. To see what happens after someone saves a choice, read [How unsubscribes work](https://docs.allgoodhq.com/mk/content/email/emails/how-unsubscribes-work.md).

## Prerequisites

* Access to **Settings → Marketing Kernel → Subscription Center**
* Emails that use `{{ send.unsubscribeUrl }}` as their unsubscribe link. See [Before an email can send](https://docs.allgoodhq.com/mk/content/email/emails/before-an-email-can-send.md)

## Pick the language you're editing

The **Language** menu at the top of the page controls which language you're editing. The header, footer, and category names are edited in that language, and the preview opens in it. Anything you leave blank shows the text from your default language.

If you switch languages with unsaved edits, allGood asks whether to discard them. Save first to keep them.

## Set up the page

The **Page** card controls how the page looks and which languages it offers.

| Setting | What it does |
| :- | :- |
| **Header logo URL** | A link to your logo image, shown at the top of the page. |
| **Header HTML** | Shown under the logo, if you set one. You write it separately for each language. Scripts and embedded pages are removed when you save. |
| **Footer HTML** | Your company name, address, or legal text. You write it separately for each language. |
| **Languages** | Which languages the page offers: English and Japanese (日本語). The page links to these, and a visitor's browser can pick from them. |
| **Default language** | The language used when nothing else names one. Its text also fills any field you leave blank in another language. It must be one of the languages you turned on. |
| **Ask for the recipient's country** | Adds a country field to the page, so you know which privacy law applies to that person. It's on by default, and it's the same in every language. |

Select **Save page** when you're done. This saves the **Page** card only. Categories have their own save button.

### Which language a recipient sees

The page opens in the language of the email the person clicked from, as long as allGood supports it. If it doesn't, the page uses the browser's language, picking from the languages you turned on, and then your default language. The words on the page itself, like the buttons and hints, come in English and Japanese. The header, footer, and category names are yours.

## Add email categories

Categories are kinds of email a recipient can turn off without leaving everything, like product news or event invitations. They show up as topics on the page.

Select **Add category** and fill in:

| Field | What to enter |
| :- | :- |
| **Label** | The name recipients see, for example "Product news". You write it for each language. A label in your default language is required. |
| **Key** | A short ID made of lowercase letters, digits, and dashes, starting with a letter, for example `product-news`. allGood suggests one from the label. You can't change it after the category is saved. |
| **Description** | Optional text that explains the category. |
| **Who gets it** | **Everyone, until they turn it off** (people start subscribed) or **Only people who turn it on** (people start unsubscribed). You can't change this after the category is saved. |

Use the arrows to reorder categories, then select **Save categories**. A saved category can be archived but not deleted, so its history stays intact.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Categories don't stop a send on their own. The check that runs before each send looks only at **Unsubscribe from all marketing emails** and address problems. To respect topic choices, filter your audience on them.

## Try the page

The **Try the page** card has two ways to test.

* **Open preview** shows the page the way recipients see it. It names no one and records nothing, and saving on the page changes nobody's preferences. It's safe to share.
* **Open live link** opens the real page for a person you pick. Enter their email address and select **Open live link**. The address is matched against your Person records. Saving on the page records that person's choices for real, and ticking **Unsubscribe from all** blocks every later send to them.

> [!WARNING]
>
> A live link really opts someone out. Use an address you own.

## What recipients see

* **Unsubscribe from all marketing emails.** One box. Ticking it stops every marketing email, whatever is ticked below, and greys out the topics.
* **Topics.** One checkbox for each category that isn't archived.
* **Country.** Shown only if you left **Ask for the recipient's country** on.
* **Save.** Nothing changes until the person saves. If an address can't currently receive email, the page tells them so, and gives them no switch to change that.
