This article is for the developer or web team finishing a move from Marketo landing pages to allGood. Coming from Marketo: Web Edge for developers covers the tag and forms. This covers the pages themselves, and the old addresses people still have. allGood hosts your new pages on a new subdomain. It doesn’t answer for your old Marketo addresses. When someone opens go.yourbrand.com/old-page, something has to send them to the new page, and that something is a redirect you set up where the old address lives.
Don’t repoint your old landing page subdomain until the redirects exist. Once the subdomain stops pointing at Marketo, Marketo can no longer answer for those addresses, and every old link breaks.

Before you start

Your admin should have connected a new subdomain for allGood pages. Don’t reuse the Marketo landing page subdomain yet. The two run side by side until you cut over.
1

List every live Marketo page

Make a list of each live page, its address, and where it’s linked from: ads, emails, other sites, search results and your own navigation. Marketo’s page list plus your web analytics is the usual source. Marketing ops owns this step.
2

Rebuild or retire each page

Rebuild the page in allGood at a new address, or retire it. Pages whose assets are missing get decided here. See Creating a landing page.
3

Map each old address to a new one

Make one row per page, from the old address to the new page. Map retired pages to a replacement or your home page.
4

Check the new pages capture correctly

Before you redirect anything, confirm each new page works end to end. The form is published, a test submission shows up on the person, and campaign membership is correct. If a page doesn’t yet record the right Salesforce campaign or UTM values, hold its redirect until it does.
5

Set the redirects

Make each old address answer with a permanent redirect (301) to its new page, and keep the query string so campaign tracking survives. Do this where the old address lives:
  • While the address is still on Marketo, use Marketo’s own page redirect, if your setup offers one.
  • After you repoint the subdomain, use a redirect layer you run, such as a rule on your CDN or web server, or a redirect-only host. It maps each old path to its new address.
7

Watch the traffic, then retire the subdomain

Watch traffic to the old subdomain. When it’s close to nothing, remove the old landing page DNS record at your DNS host. Keep control of the name, so nobody else can claim it.
When this works, an old address opens the right new page, the query string is kept, and a test form submission on the new page lands on a person in allGood.

Keep tracking working

  • Query strings. Campaign values such as utm_source must pass through the redirect. Test one before you go live.
  • Form IDs. During the move, forms can carry both the allGood ID and the old Marketo form ID (data-mkto-form-id), so existing Tag Manager triggers keep working. See Capture a form.
  • Munchkin. Tracking on the old pages ends when the pages do. Install the allGood tag alongside Munchkin until you cut over. See Install the tag.
