If you’ve set up Web Edge Sessions and an email domain, you may wonder whether you registered the same subdomain twice. You didn’t. They’re two different domains doing two different jobs, and a single marketing email typically uses both at once. This article covers exactly where each one shows up for a contact.

What each domain is

Your email domain (set up on Email Domains) is the subdomain allGood sends your marketing email from, and receives replies on — for example, reply.yourbrand.com. Your Web Edge domain (set up on Web Edge Sessions) is the subdomain allGood hosts your landing pages, forms, and tracking on — for example, pages.yourbrand.com. Both are subdomains of your own brand, not a generic allGood address. Beyond that, they don’t overlap. allGood verifies each one separately, and one can go down while the other stays fully live.

Where your email domain shows up

Your email domain is the part after the @ in your sender address — for example, hello@reply.yourbrand.com. A contact sees it in:
  • The From line. Every marketing email shows this address before a contact even opens it.
  • The Reply-To line. A reply — an out-of-office, a bounce, an unsubscribe request — comes back to an address on this domain. Mary’s Email Reply Management picks those up automatically.
  • The message headers. If a contact’s mail provider checks the message, this is the domain it checks against your SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records to decide whether to trust it.
  • The footer. allGood stores a CAN-SPAM-compliant postal address for this email domain. Set it once as the domain’s default, and it appears in the footer automatically every time you send from that domain.

Where your Web Edge domain shows up

Your Web Edge domain is a separate subdomain you host content on — for example, pages.yourbrand.com. A contact sees it in:
  • Every link inside that same email. Before send, allGood rewrites each link — including the unsubscribe link — to route through your Web Edge domain first. The link a contact hovers over shows pages.yourbrand.com, not a generic redirect address.
  • The landing page URL they land on after clicking, such as pages.yourbrand.com/spring-sale.
  • The form they fill out on that page — it submits back to this same domain.
  • The web tracking script the page loads, and the first-party cookie it sets in the contact’s browser — both live on this domain too.

Why two domains instead of one

Sending email and hosting web pages need different kinds of proof. Mail providers authenticate a sending domain using SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. These DNS records confirm allGood can send as you. Hosting a page needs different proof: an SSL certificate tied to that specific subdomain, plus a list of allowed origins that makes sure only your site can submit forms or send tracking events through it. One subdomain can’t cleanly carry both sets of records and settings at once. The upside: both domains are yours, not allGood’s. Nothing a contact sees — the From address, the links, the page they land on — ever looks like it’s coming from somewhere else.
